The Seine Aval energy efficiency platform brings together institutional stakeholders, major industrial groups and renowned educational and research establishments as well as innovative SMEs and architects, who have decided to pool their knowledge and resources. Backers of the project include the European Union (via the ERDF fund), the Ile-de-France regional authority, the Yvelines department local authority and Ademe (the French environment and energy management agency). The project also benefits from Opération d’Intérêt National (OIN) status.
Training will be offered from 2014 to around 700 students a year, ranging from school leavers with a CAP certificate all the way up to postgraduates. Courses will be mixed-level in order to recreate a professional environment. In this way, the campus will offer a highly innovative educational approach.
The platform will also benefit from exceptional resources, beginning with an experimental building that is, in itself, an educational and research tool, and an unparalleled information system that will enable students to examine how urban environments function in terms of energy use. The fact that Les Mureaux is recognised internationally for its innovative approach to energy will make this research particularly productive and fruitful.
