As a specialist in energy-efficient buildings, Bouygues Immobilier has launched the IssyGrid® initiative, France's first district smartgrid project. In partnership with the municipality of Issy-les-Moulineaux, near Paris, and eight other major industrial partners, this smartgrid pilot project will be delivered in 2012.
Energy performance at the district level
IssyGrid®: the first district smartgrid in France
Located in the Seine Ouest business district in Issy les Moulineaux, near Paris, IssyGrid® will be the first district smartgrid in France, spanning 160,000 m² and meeting the needs of almost 10,000 people. The Fort d’Issy eco-neighbourhood, with its 1,500 apartments and 4,500 inhabitants, will be connected to the smartgrid in 2013.
The future smartgrid will be developed in three stages over five years:
- measurement of total consumption (office, homes, shops, public amenities),
- installation of renewable energy production and storage equipment,
- network management.
Electric vehicle recharging and street lighting will also fall within the scope of the project.

DEPUTY CEO OF BOUYGUES IMMOBILIER
To ensure the future and enhance the value of buildings, we need to get to grips with the environmental challenges. That is what we need to anticipate now in order to preserve or create green value. Under those conditions, sustainable rehabilitation becomes productive investment, since it substantially enhances the value of property assets.
