Bouygues Immobilier has obtained BREEAM International design-stage certification at the ‘outstanding’ level, with a record overall score of 90%, for its Spring building in Nanterre, near Paris. This performance level is a world first for BREEAM Europe Offices 2009 certification.
Designed by architect Jean-Claude Di Fiore, this Green Office® project is the second large positive-energy office operation to be undertaken in France. The 35,200-sq.m building accommodating 2,150 employees will make a 75% energy saving in relation to an HQE® high-environmental-quality building designed to the RT 2005 thermal regulations.
Spring has in fact achieved dual environmental certification, for it also qualified for the NF Bâtiment tertiaires - démarche HQE® bureaux 2008 label alongside BREEAM International (Europe Offices 2009). What is more, it has dual energy certification with the BEPOS positive-energy-building standard and the BBC Effinergie low-energy building label.
The building offsets its intrinsic energy consumption by producing renewable energy:
- the 6,500-sq.m photovoltaic power plant generates a record 840,000 kWh/year;
- the water-source-energy reversible heat pump provides heating and cooling for very low energy consumption, close to 50% less than that of the benchmark RT 2005 thermal regulations.
This exceptionally high environmental rating has meant Spring has become the first building in the world to achieve the ‘outstanding’ rating at the design stage of BREEAM International (Europe Offices 2009) certification.
With this new certification, Bouygues Immobilier has confirmed its position as a leading player in the field of green property development through its unrivalled advance and knowhow. Its faultless commitment to the environment and sustainable development is a key factor in progress and a strategic driver for growth.
