With Nextdoor, users decide how much space they need and can resize their requirements on a monthly basis. All the workspaces are fitted and furnished. They are equipped with private and shared offices, coworking spaces and modular meeting rooms. They also include all the services and collaborative spaces consistent with new ways of working. Personal lockers, acoustically-insulated call boxes, relaxation areas and catering facilities are offered alongside business lounges, libraries, brainstorming rooms, lounges, terraces and gardens.
Nextdoor's users can enjoy a personal car parking space, a registered address and concierge services. Contracts are flexible, and can be terminated at one month's notice. Nextdoor also offers personalised assistance and a customisable telephone-answering service. Private office space can be accessed 24/7. Nextdoor is endeavouring to create lively, shared workspaces that generate business for companies and foster well-being for their employees.
The first Nextdoor building, located in the Issy-les-Moulineaux business cluster near Paris, will open on 1th June 2015. And many more Nextdoor sites are planned nationwide. Additionally, the workings of this pilot facility offer a solution to the property headaches experienced by many start-ups that try to find premises in Paris, namely that:
- leases are signed for three, six or nine years - which is not tailored to their business model ;
- office space in Paris and its inner suburbs is too expensive ;
- supply in up-and-coming areas is scarce ;
- floor areas and building profiles are often out of sync with the needs of small companies.
In the words of Philippe Morel, in charge of Nextdoor, « This programme is the forerunner of tomorrow's office space. It has been thought out and designed specifically with users and their new ways of working in mind ».
